Argh, stalled!
I'm feeling a bit stalled. Hm.

Anyone up for another round of prompts-and-ficlets? Um, just to switch it up this time, give me a pairing or character and some song lyrics or a quote or something and I'll give you some sort of something back. Yeah.

ETA: Feel free to keep prompt things coming, even though I've posted something since adding this, My plan is to keep writing things until Virus'verse 5 stops being such a jerk and lets me keep going. Right now I feel like it's stonewalling me. Ugh.

Just one last one from Joshua Radin;

I'd Rather Be With You lyrics

Sitting here, on this lonely dock
Watch the rain play on the ocean top
All the things I feel I need to say
I can't explain in any other way

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too

Now here's the sun, come to dry the rain
Warm my shoulders and relieve my pain
You're the one thing that I'm missing here
With you beside me I no longer fear

Replacing of course 'girl' with 'boy'. As always, the pairings I always like are John with Cam or Evan or Ronon. I don't know if any of the lyrics will provide inspiration. Just throwing them at you in case they might!

Well, you asked for John with Cam or Evan, and since you gave me multiple prompts... :D

It felt silly, John decided as they walked down the beach, pants rolled to their knees and shoes in hand. This was a scene from some sort of romance novel, the lovers from the cover and their happy ending, walking off into the sunset. They weren’t like that, not even close, and he wasn’t sure that they’d get that happy ending, or if he even deserved one.

Glancing over at the man walking beside him, though, made him grin and decide that he wanted it, even if he might not deserve it. Cam was smiling widely, watching the tide roll in and erase their footprints from the sand time and time again. The water was warm, and John let it wash around his ankles, cleaning the sand from his feet.

John wasn’t sure what it was that made him open his mouth, made him start talking. He blamed the romance-novel setting. “I’m leaving.”

Cam’s smile instantly dropped from his face, replaced by a more guarded expression as he whipped his head to face John. “What?”

“No,” John said hastily. “That’s – okay, starting again. I’m retiring.”

Cam’s expression relaxed. “Retiring,” he repeated.

John had been thinking about it, on and off, since the Wraith had officially been declared a non-issue earlier that year. His battle was fought, and it was high time he stepped back and let Lorne have his day at the top. John no longer felt the need to save the galaxy on a semi-weekly basis. That could be someone else’s job now. He hadn’t realized he’d come to a decision until the words were spoken aloud, but he realized that he was done, really done, as soon as they were in the air. “Yeah.”

Cam traced a line in the sand with his foot, staring absently out over the water. It was the end of their impromptu vacation, the first they’d ever been allowed to take together, and it had been nice, just the two of them and beach and beer and sex for two glorious, uninterrupted weeks. “What’ll you do?”

John shrugged. “Buy a Cessna and take tourists up. Consult for the SGC. Write a how-to manual for killing life-sucking space vampires, no garlic or crosses needed. It doesn’t matter.”

Cam half-smiled, still staring out over the water. “Sounds nice.”

“I’d like to stay close to the Mountain, though,” John hedged, unnerved by Cam’s refusal to meet his eyes. “I still have connections there. I wouldn’t want to get too far away.”

Cam’s mouth widened into a full smile. “Connections,” he drawled.

“I’d hate to leave Walter hanging,” John shot back, starting to get seriously freaked, bringing out the sarcasm as a sort of defense. Cam laughed softly and turned to him, grabbing his free hand.

“Move in with me.”

It was what John had been working towards, what he wanted, but he was still caught off-guard by it. His face broke into a surprised smile, tone softening. “Yeah?”

“Definitely,” Cam replied, drawing closer and giving him a kiss. “You’ll need someone to spell-check that how-to book for you. I can probably be talked into doing it.”

“I’m sure I could think of a way,” John said, smiling and leaning in to kiss Cam again. “I’m very inventive.”

“Oh, I know,” Cam said with a laugh. “I’m counting on it.”

This is so sweet. Two adult men in a relationship, obviously in love but there is still this sweet almost teenage-like hesitancy when it comes to feelings. Love this story which is perfect for the prompt. Thanks!!

Aww, thanks! Glad you liked it! And yeah, I whump them enough that I figured I could give them a happy ending at least once...
